Ringaudai: Hotels and Accommodation

Ringaudai and its surrounding area are home to cultural sites, historical complexes, and botanical attractions. Nearby Fort I of the Kaunas Fortress is set up for visits; celebrations, guided tours, and educational activities with horses take place there. The fort was built between 1882 and 1889 and reconstructed from the late 19th to the early 20th century. Nearby, Pyplių ūkis offers educational bread-baking programmes.

Culture

In addition to major annual events, the Ringaudai Leisure Hall organises educational activities, civic initiatives, creative workshops, and meetings with local and other artists. The “Dviračio skulptūra” sculpture in Ringaudai was created by sculptor Danielius Sodeika and architect Violeta Beigienė. The “Ringauda” folklore ensemble sings the songs associated with Ringaudai and contributes to passing on the singing tradition in this region.

The “Žaidimų namas” is a venue for children’s celebrations in Ringaudai and hosts birthday parties, school graduation celebrations, baptisms, and other family occasions.

Nature

The nearby Karvelių ąžuolas pedunculate oak is a botanical natural heritage site of Lithuania and has a trunk circumference of more than 7 metres. The nearby Obelynė Park covers approximately 6.5 hectares. It is a botanical park established by naturalist and professor Tadas Ivanauskas on his estate in Akademija. Its collection includes more than 300 species and forms of trees and shrubs; ginkgo and giant sequoia grow in the park.

History

On the cycling route, cyclists can visit Pyplių piliakalnis. The nearby Pyplių piliakalnis offers views of the Nemunas and the towers of Raudondvaris Church; steps lead to the summit. According to local legends and Lithuanian historians Zenonas Ivinskis and Kazimieras Paunksnys, Pilėnai Castle, which was destroyed in 1336, may have stood on Pyplių piliakalnis. The Jorė Festival takes place at Pyplių piliakalnis.
