Ariogala: Hotels and Accommodation

Nature

The Ariogala Botanical Reserve protects stands of wych elm on the slopes of the Dubysa Valley.

The surroundings of the Ariogalos šaltinėlis spring were landscaped in 1936 during the construction of the Žemaičių plentas road. The Gediminaičių stulpai stand on the slope next to the Ariogalos šaltinėlis spring.

Culture

In the center of Ariogala stands the twin-towered Neo-Baroque Basilica of St Michael the Archangel Church. It was built in 1939 on the foundations of a church that burned down in 1915, based on the design created in 1926 by the Swiss architect E. Peyrrio.

The memorial of Ariogala’s former Jewish synagogue complex reconstructs part of the outline of the Great Synagogue as a symbol of the former ghetto.

Ariogala Dainų Slėnis is located in the valley of the Dubysa River. Every summer, it hosts the traditional gathering “Laisvės ugnis – ateities kartoms”; district-level and nationwide events are also held there.

Routes

On section 68 of the Padubysys – Ariogala – Kirkšnovė route, the surface is predominantly asphalt; smaller paths and roads run through the Dubysa Valley.
