Tabalenka: Hotels and Accommodation

The Camino de Santiago route through Alytus District follows the sequence Punia–Paliepiai–Raižiai–Tabalenka–Radvilonys–Bazorai–Karkliniškės–Takniškiai–Alytus.

Hiking

The 29.6-kilometre Punia–Alytus section of the Camino de Santiago passes through Tabalenka. Around 7.5 hours are estimated for hiking this section.

Tabalenka is home to the rural tourism homestead “Meilės laiptai”, with a hall seating up to 80 people and sleeping quarters.

Culture

The wooden Raižiai Mosque, built in 1889, stands near Tabalenka. It was the only mosque in Lithuania in the vicinity of Tabalenka to remain in operation during the Soviet era. Raižiai is considered the capital of Lithuania’s Tatars.

During a guided tour in Raižiai, visitors can learn about the lives of the Tatars in the area and taste šimtalapis. In Pivašiūnai Eldership, week-long indulgence celebrations for Žolinė and the Nativity of Mary take place at Pivašiūnai Church.

Nature

Pivašiūnai Geomorphological Reserve is located in Pivašiūnai Eldership. Also in Pivašiūnai Eldership, the recreation area by Lake Ilgis has a sports field, lighting, paths, a pier extending into the lake, changing rooms, pavilions, a viewing platform at Lake Ilgis, and a car park.

In Pivašiūnai Eldership, the shape of Pivašiūnų Hillfort can best be seen from the churchyard.

Crafts and Cuisine

In Pivašiūnai Eldership, the Pivašiūnų Craft Centre offers baking and tasting experiences featuring Dzūkian potato bands, buckwheat babka, cakes, pastries, and kūčiukai.

The Pivašiūnų Craft Centre also offers classes in wood carving, pottery, felting, candle making, and knitting patterned wool socks and woollen gloves.
