Since the 31st of December and till May in Vilnius will be held an exhibition of paintings of the well known Georgian artist, Niko Pirosmani. 35 pictures have already arrived to the capital on the 23rd of December and now they are in the Vilnius picture gallery now.
Also after the opening of the exhibition a show of the fragment from the play “Pirosmani, Pirosmani” by Eimuntas Nyakroshus is going to be demonstrated.
Niko Pirosmani (1862-1918) is the most well known Georgian artist of the XX century, a self-educated person, one of the best masters of the world “naive art”. He painted with the colors which made himself from black cheap buckram; partially he left it untouched thus picked in only the brightest places. A part of his masterpieces are the painted signboards, the other part are pictures-panels for the interiors decoration. The big place in his creativity is taken by images of animals. The animals represented by the artist, are not so similar to their real prototypes, but they are very similar to each other. Some people state, that animals at the pictures of have the eyes of the artist.
