Kalnėnai: Hotels and Accommodation

Kalnėnai lies on the southern edge of the Venta. Birželė, a birch grove, is located by the Venta in Kalnėnai; Petroškos pušynas is also a 7-hectare pine forest in Kalnėnai.

Nature

The Dubupis winds through meadows covered with trees and has a stony riverbed. The Kalnėnų-I Reservoir is classified as a reservoir of national significance.

Water

The Kalnėnų-II Reservoir has relatively high banks that are sparsely covered with trees and shrubs. It was created by damming an unnamed tributary of the Venta.

In Mažeikiai District, six rest areas for water tourism and 19 information boards about attractions have been established along the water tourism route on the Venta.

Culture

The old cemeteries of Kalnėnai are located on a small hill at the foot of the slope of the Venta’s second flood terrace. Human bones and bronze and iron objects were found at Balsio kapeliai.

The Kalnėnų I–II cemeteries, known as Dainiaus Bulviarūsiai, are located in a wooded area. A field road runs from west to east through Balsio kapeliai.

Rimkaus kapeliai were formerly called Milžinkapiai. A wooden cross erected in 1927 stands at Rimkaus kapeliai. Kalnėnų kapinynas II is listed under the identifiers 6380 and AV657.

Kalnėnai was mentioned in 1605 in the inventory of the Tirkšliai estate.

Geographical Location

Pavenčių keliukas is a 2-kilometre-long path running along the floodplains of the Kalnėnai River through meadows with shrubs. A railway line runs through the northern part of Kalnėnai.
