Hillforts and their locations

Diauderių Hillfort is also known by several names: Baisogala Hillfort and Šatrija. It is located near Diauderių, on the left bank of the Serbentynė (Kiršinas) Stream, or what is now a pond, and dates from the 2nd to 1st millennium BC. The described route follows the Baisogala–Grinkiškis road. In Biliūnai, head towards Augmėnai; after 750 metres, another turn-off follows the Serbentynė Stream, then the route continues 450 metres across fields to the slope. Raginėnų Hillfort, also known as Witches' Hill, is located near Raginėnų in the Daugyvenė Culture-History Museum-Reserve. It dates from the 1st millennium to the beginning of the 2nd millennium. Together with the other two hillforts, it offers a selection of archaeological sites with different names, dates, and location descriptions.

Museums, manor houses, and buildings

At Kleboniškiai Village Household Museum, near Kleboniškių, relocated village buildings typical of the 19th and early 20th centuries are on display. The 18-hectare museum stretches across the Daugyvenė Valley. In addition to exhibitions and educational programmes, its listed programme formats include evening events, barn theatre, folk music, crafts, and Užgavėnės celebrations. In Šeduva, the Jewish History Museum “Lost Shtetl” tells the story of the town's Jewish community in interwar Lithuania, as well as its culture, traditions, and history. The museum complex was designed by Finnish architect Rainer Mahlamäki. The Šiaulėnai Regional Museum offers a different historical focus: it preserves an authentic kitchen with a bread oven and a chimney that was once used to smoke meat.

Baisogala Manor comprises a preserved manor house, stables, coach house, kitchen, warehouse, and mill. The estate also includes a park with numerous exotic tree species. Baisogala Windmill offers a very different architectural accent: the three-storey, octagonal masonry building has a conical, pyramidal form and wraparound galleries.

Other cultural themes can be explored at specific places in Radviliškis. City Culture and Recreation Park features sculptures from woodcarving symposia held in 2002, 2010, and 2011, as well as “Heroes' Alley.” The V. Karmono Space Modelling Museum at Vaižganto Progymnasium displays rocket models by students and by Victor Karmonas, who are members of the Radviliškis Space Modelling Club. Šiaulės observation tower adds a 21-metre-high structure to this selection.

Hands-on activities, crafts, and seasonal events

Visitors interested in hands-on activities will find a wide range of educational programmes at Pakiršinis Crafts Centre in Pakiršinis Manor: marbling, baking, folk music, linen carving, making wooden tulips, pottery, and candle-making. Šeduva Stud in Raudondvaris welcomes both experienced riders and people getting in the saddle for the first time. Horse lovers and visitors who simply want to see the horses are also welcome. In Valdeikiai, Sodyba “Molinė saulėgrąža” invites visitors to take photos in the sunflower field and visit the Museum of Ceramic Jugs.

One seasonal event is the Tulip Bloom Festival, held every spring at Burbiškio Manor. If you want to plan your trip around a particular event, check the dates before making arrangements. Kleboniškiai Village Household Museum, in turn, combines its historic buildings with a variety of events, from exhibitions to folk music and crafts.

Choose places based on your interests

For a history-focused trip, consider visiting hillforts, “Lost Shtetl,” and the historic ensembles at Baisogala or Kleboniškiai. If you would rather take part in activities, the educational programmes at Pakiršinis Crafts Centre and a visit to Šeduva Stud offer different options. Taking photos in the sunflower field and visiting the Museum of Ceramic Jugs in Valdeikiai provide another distinct theme.
