Birštonas: Hotels and Accommodation

Nature

After climbing more than 300 steps, the Birštonas Observation Tower offers panoramic views of the meanders of the Nemunas. The tower is 55 m high, and its observation platform is located at a height of 45 m. As it is located in a protected area, the most convenient way to reach it is on foot or by bicycle. Vytautas-Jurgis-Meška Park covers 25 ha of woodland, in which not a single tree has been felled.

History

The Birštonas Kurhaus is one of the few surviving buildings of its kind in Lithuania and was added to the list of architectural monuments in 2006. Classical music concerts have been held there since its opening in 1855.

The Birštonas Museum is located in a building that has been included on the cultural heritage list. Most of its exhibition is dedicated to the history of Birštonas as a spa resort, from the Tsarist era to the present day. The museum offers educational programmes that can be booked in advance, including a programme about the city's mineral water springs.

Culture

The Church of Saint Anthony of Padua in Birštonas is a red-brick Neo-Gothic church built between 1900 and 1909. At the Birštonas Sacral Museum, visitors can take part in the educational activity “Kvepiantis Birštono banginiukas” and bake special biscuits shaped like the whale symbol of the spa resort. At the “Druskupis” mineral-water evaporation facility, visitors can try inhalations outdoors in a pavilion with mineral water fountains.
