The Alytus Regional Museum was founded in 1928 and presents the history of the Alytus region through modern, interactive exhibitions. The Anzelmas Matutis Memorial Museum is located in the house where the children's poet and educator Anzelmas Matulevičius-Matutis lived from 1961 to 1985. On the second floor, it preserves the writer's study with its authentic furnishings, library, souvenirs and personal belongings.
Nature and activities
The 97.1-hectare Kurorto Park was established in 1930 in a natural pine forest. Walking and cycling paths run around the Dailidė Lakes in Kurorto Park; there are also beaches, training areas, recreation zones, beach volleyball courts and children's playgrounds.
VIVI Wake Park is located in Kurorto Park on the shore of the Large Dailidė Lake, next to a beach, and offers wakeboarding. Jaunimo Park was established in 1982.
Culinary highlights
The menu at the “Traukinys M23” café includes waffles with various fillings, Napoleon chocolate cake and the dessert “Vienuolės”.
