Star1 Airlines Munich–Vilnius
Star1 Airlines, a Lithuanian low-cost carrier based in Vilnius, has just announced that Munich will be added to its flight schedule as its first destination in Germany, with flights to and from Vilnius. Flights to Lithuania are the core business of Star1 Airlines, while its parent company, "Star1 Holidays", is also active as a tour operator throughout Europe. In addition to regular scheduled flights to and from Vilnius to Dublin (Ireland), Edinburgh (Scotland), Girona (Spain), London (England) and Milan (Italy), Star1 Airlines also operates several charter flights to Egypt, Greece, Spain and Turkey during the holiday season. From November 15, 2010, tourists and business travellers from Germany will also have the opportunity to fly affordably to the vibrant capital of the Baltic state on the Baltic Sea with Star1 Airlines.

The new Munich–Vilnius route will operate in both directions twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, starting in mid-November. Flights to Vilnius depart from Munich at 7:30 a.m. on both days and are scheduled to land in Vilnia at around 8:20 a.m.; all times are local to Munich and Vilnius, respectively. The airline further reports that flights between Munich and Vilnius are now available to book and will cost from 99 litas (around 30 euros). Star1 Airlines operates a single Boeing 737-300, which can carry up to 150 passengers.
The capital's airport is only a few kilometres from the city centre, so hotels in Vilnius can be reached quickly and easily by taxi or public transport. Founded only in 2009 by its owners, Star1 Holidays and Star Team Group, the airline Star1 Airlines emerged from the former HC Airways and is continuing its expansion in Europe with Munich, its first destination in Germany.
