The Lithuanians may travel to the USA visa-free

The Lithuanians may travel to the USA visa-freeLithuania and the USA have finished signing a package of documents which gives to citizens of Lithuania the right to travel to the USA visa-free. Last agreement from this package, providing cooperation between the countries in sphere of prevention and struggle against grave crimes, has been signed by Lithuanian Minister of the Interior, Regimantas Chjupaila, and by the ambassador of the USA in Lithuania John Klowd on October, 28th , 2008. According to the contract, the agreement on a visa-free travel between Lithuania and the USA comes into force since November, 17th. The agreement, in particular, resolves the Lithuanian citizens crossing the USA border without receipt of visas, just on passport demand with biometric data. Stay of Lithuanians at the territory of the USA is allowed for a period of till 90 Eves.

Lithuania has opened its border for the USA citizens still more than 12 years ago. Since then the American authorities repeatedly promised to the Lithuania visa-free travel permission for the Lithuanian citizens. However the decision on signing the agreement with Lithuania has been announced in the middle of October, during the ambassadors’ meeting from the countries - new EU members, in the USA president residence. We shouldn’t but mention that the visa-free travel does not regard to those Lithuanians who are going to visit the USA for study or for work. These categories of citizens will be obliged to obtain visas.
