Grigiškės: Hotels and Accommodations

Culture and History

Grigiškės has a historical route with around ten stops. It includes outdoor rest areas, permanently installed historical displays, and audio stories about the history of the area linked via QR code. The highlighted stops include the Grigiškės paper mill with its aqueduct, the Kauno Vokė area with the old road, the Vokė River with its dam, and the Church of the Holy Spirit.

A section of the old Vilnius–Kaunas road, known locally as Napoleon Road, has been preserved on Kauno Vokė Street. The preserved “trilinka” paving dates from 1938–1939. The historical route ends with the large-scale mural “Grigiškės iš paukščio skrydžio”. It is described as a 324-square-meter wall map of the area measuring 27 by 12 meters.

Nature

In the wider regional surroundings of Grigiškės are Markučių Miško Parkas, Pavilnio Miško Parkas, Valakampių Miško Parkas, and Nuobariškių Kalnas.

The Vokė below the Grigiškės dam is described as fast-flowing and stony. Canoe slalom competitions have been held there for more than 50 years; the river corridor continues toward the confluence of the Vokė and Neris rivers.
