Roxette are coming to Lithuania

Roxette are perhaps Sweden’s most successful musical export after ABBA. The pop duo, consisting of singer Marie Fredriksson and guitarist Per Gessle, was formed in 1986 under the name Roxette, which was inspired by a song by the British rock band Dr. Feelgood. After initially achieving fairly modest success, Roxette made their major international breakthrough in 1989 with the release of “The Look.” After a break of several years, Roxette will return to the world’s major stages next year. Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle will perform for their fans as part of the Roxette World Tour 2011, including in Lithuania.

A Roxette concert will take place on March 14, 2011, at the Siemens Arena in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. Big events cast their shadows before them, as the saying goes, and advance ticket sales have already begun for one of the biggest events in Lithuania. The Baltic region seems to be a good fit for the Swedish pop duo; after all, Roxette made a triumphant comeback at the New Wave Festival in Latvia last year. The three-year break from the stage had become necessary in part because of an illness suffered by singer Marie Fredriksson.

With the World Tour 2011, Roxette are once again proving that they are far from past their prime and that the Swedish pop duo’s hits are still as relevant as ever. The concert in Lithuania marks the start of the Roxette World Tour 2011. Before performing at the Siemens Arena in Vilmius, Roxette will tour Russia, Ukraine and Belarus beginning in March 2011. Later on in the World Tour 2011, further Roxette concerts are planned through the end of July 2011 in Latvia, Estonia, South America, South Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, Eastern Europe and Central Europe. The Roxette World Tour will conclude with a performance on July 31, 2011, at the Suikerrock Festival in Belgium, following, among other dates, four concerts in Germany.
