Wine is gaining ground in Lithuania

The “Vyno Dienos Vilnius,” as the Wine Days are called in Lithuanian, will be held for the sixth time in 2010. The event has by now also earned a strong international reputation. Interest in wine culture has grown significantly in Lithuania in recent years. Many new wine bars opened across the country in 2009. Restaurants and hotels in Lithuania are also continually expanding their wine lists. Lithuania is developing a taste for wine: retailers also reported rising wine sales in 2009, while sales of traditional high-proof spirits in Lithuania remained stagnant.

Vilnius Wine Days: Quality wines in a fitting setting

Each year, more than 1,000 different wines from all of Lithuania’s leading importers are showcased during the Vilnius Wine Days. The wine fair in Vilnius has long been regarded by Lithuanian wine merchants as the perfect opportunity to make new contacts. Private visitors with an interest in wine will also find plenty to enjoy, thanks to numerous tastings and media events: visitors can sample interesting wines and learn more at the events about their origins and the wineries that produce them. Alongside wine importers from Lithuania, international wineries also present their wines at the Vilnius Wine Days, held at the Contemporary Art Museum. The Vilnius Wine Days at the end of May 2010 will once again make it clear that wine is increasingly appreciated in Lithuania.
