Lithuania is known as a country with centuries-old cheesemaking traditions. Lithuanian cheeses are exported around the world. Countries that purchase products from Lithuanian cheesemakers include Germany, the United States and Canada.

Lithuania was admitted to the Federation at the same time as Brazil, another well-known global supplier of dairy products.

At the admission ceremony, Lithuania’s representatives signed a statement saying that membership in the Federation promised to be exceptionally beneficial for the development of Lithuania’s cheesemaking industry. The exchange of experience with cheesemakers around the world will help improve product quality and encourage the development of new recipes.

For his part, Kristian Robert, Director General of the International Federation of Cheesemakers, signed a statement noting that Lithuania had already made a significant contribution even before becoming an official member, and that the Federation would undoubtedly benefit from having such an experienced dairy-producing region involved in its activities.
